Musical Scavenger Hunt and Easter Egg Hunt

Hello,

Due to the rain the Musical Scavenger Hunt is being postponed until Wednesday April 10th at 9:30. Also the Easter Egg Hunt is this Friday March 29th at 1:00.

Our Space unit is going along very smoothly and this week we looked more into each planet and the certain characteristics that they have. We have seen many videos and read many books about our solar system. Below are two of the songs that we learnt in class.

This Tuesday March 26^th will be the Pre-K’s picture day and don’t forget that the Musical Scavenger Hunt is the day after (Wednesday March 27).

After the Spring Break I will calculate the cost of the Baby Boss field trip and then send out a form regarding prices.

Student of the week

The student of the week is Hugo. He has emerged as a strong leader and many of his peers also look to him for help and support. Hugo also always speaks English inside the classroom and even makes sure that everyone else follows the rules. He has come so far since September, keep up the great work!!!

Another week has passed and it was very busy with Spirit Week. It was great to see so many children dressed up in all of the various costumes throughout the week. Once again I want to thank the parents that came out to support us at race day on Wednesday. I was very proud to see everyone participate and have a great afternoon on the track. Below is a video, Yi-Ling (Kyle’s mom) shared with us, thank you!

Our space unit is going very smoothly and if you have time this weekend and the sky is clear could you please show your son or daughter the moon. In Math we have been continuing our measurement unit and perhaps this weekend you could measure something with your child. We have been using paper clips to measure toys but you can use anything around the house (shoes, cookies, pencils, coins etc.), have fun with it!

On March 27 the Pre-K’s will be participating in the Musical Scavenger Hunt. In music class with Ms. Fay the students have been working hard studying various kinds of music and on the 27^th they will play a game showing what they have learnt. It is always a highlight of the year and like always parents can come by and watch the hunt. It will start at 9:30 and take about an hour.

The student of the week is Rachel. She is the latest member of the Pre-K team and she has emerged as strong leader within the class. Rachel always adds to group discussions and constantly raises her hand. Keep up the great work Rachel!!!

All kinds of Rockets, Birthday Parties and Centres

Originally from just outside Toronto, Canada, Mr Sharp received his Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Education degrees from the maritime province of New Brunswick at the University of New Brunswick. College was his first taste of travelling away from home, then after graduation he took off right away to Taiwan. His reason for first coming here was that his undergraduate studies included Taiwan - after a few courses he knew that he had to see this beautiful country. He taught Kindergarten and Physical Education in Taipei for two years before heading back home to Canada. In Canada he taught Grades 7 and 8 for one year. He did enjoy his time teaching the older grades but he knew that his talent and heart was teaching the youngest students. After only one year in Canada Mr. Sharp left his homeland again, travelling to Bangalore, India, to teach Pre-Kindergarten. This year, Mr. Sharp will be continuing with what he feels he does best - teaching the Pre-K class.

Mr. Sharp firmly believes in the importance of learning in all areas in the Pre-K class and is never afraid to push his students to do things that they never thought they could accomplish. Through positive interactions and goal-oriented teaching all students can learn successfully. Don’t be surprised to see Mr. Sharp engaging with his students on the ground or interacting with them as if he is 4 years old! He loves relating to his students and learning with them. He feels that he is always learning when he is in the classroom.

Outside of the classroom, Mr. Sharp is an avid runner and swimmer. When in Canada he swam nationally and internationally. He is starting a swim team at HIS and is very excited about spending time coaching students in this activity.
